We are thrilled to announce that Ryan Nelson has been selected as the second recipient of the prestigious Kelli Joy O’Laughlin Memorial Scholarship for 2024. Ryan’s outstanding achievements, compassionate spirit, and dedication to serving others truly embody the values and legacy of Kelli Joy O’Laughlin.

Ryan’s journey to this scholarship has been marked by excellence in both academics and extracurricular activities. As a student at Nazareth Academy, Ryan has excelled not only in the classroom but also on the athletic field. His leadership as a three-year team captain in tennis and as a varsity golf player showcases his commitment to excellence and teamwork.

Beyond his athletic accomplishments, Ryan has demonstrated a deep commitment to serving his community. He has been an integral part of the Anti-Bullying Task Force, where he served as secretary, working tirelessly to create a supportive and inclusive environment for all students. Additionally, Ryan has volunteered with the Ronald McDonald House Charities, offering comfort and support to families facing medical challenges. His selfless dedication to helping others reflects the very essence of the Kelli Joy O’Laughlin Memorial Foundation.

In his application essay, Ryan shared heartfelt stories of his experiences with the Ronald McDonald House Charities, where he witnessed firsthand the profound impact of compassion and caring. Through these experiences, Ryan has not only demonstrated empathy and understanding but has also inspired those around him to make a difference in the lives of others.

Ryan’s passion for service and his commitment to making a positive impact extend beyond his high school years. In the fall, Ryan will be attending Notre Dame, where he plans to pursue a program in nonprofit business. We have no doubt that Ryan will continue to carry forward the values of kindness, compassion, and leadership that defined Kelli Joy’s life.
