Kelli Joy O’Laughlin Memorial Foundation to Offer 18 Scholarships This Year!

As Kelli’s family continues to spread ”JOY” in their daughter’s name – ensuring a legacy of giving and giving back – the O’Laughlin family of Indian Head Park is expanding the number of scholarships offered through the Kelli Joy O’Laughlin Memorial Foundation.

This year, the Kelli Joy O’Laughlin Memorial Foundation will award 18 scholarships to students at high schools in the area, including:

  • Ten (10) $2,500 renewable scholarships (up to four years) offered to candidates at Lyons Township High School, where Kelli was a student.
Total value over four years: $100,000.
  • Six (6) $1,500 renewable scholarships (up to 4 years) offered to candidates from, respectively, Nazareth High School, Fenwick High School, Hinsdale Central High School and Hinsdale South High School.
Total value over four years: $36,000.
  • Two (2) $1,500 renewable scholarships (up to 4 years) offered to students who live in Illinois and submit their applications on the fund’s website.
Total value over four years: $12,000.

Students currently in their senior year may learn about the requirements for the awards and apply for the Kelli Joy O’Laughlin Memorial Foundation scholarships here on our website.  Only applications submitted online will be accepted. The deadline for applications is March 22.

“Thanks to the support we’ve received both in this community and beyond through our various fundraisers in Kelli’s name, we’re able to offer 18 scholarships this year, with a total value of $148,000. The number 18 is symbolic and important to us, because Kelli would be turning 18 this year,” says John O’Laughlin. “It’s a tribute to her, and ultimately a tribute to the kindness and joy she shared with many in her life.”

Adds Brenda O’Laughlin: “Our wish is for Kelli to be remembered through the spreading of “JOY” in her name and being able to give opportunities, like these scholarships to young adults”.

Winners will be announced in May 2015.
