The Run For Kelli 2019 was held on the streets of Western Springs for the first time!  We hosted over 300 runners on the streets of Springdale.  We had another 250 walkers on a separate 1-mile course around south campus.

We are so grateful for the sponsors, the volunteers and the participants that made this day a tremendous celebration of Kelli’s life and the community!  Today we raised almost $40,000 for her scholarship fund!

Run For Kelli 5k is held on a certified course on the streets of Springdale in Western Springs.

Pictured above scholarship recipient Ceci Walsh presented first place runner Joshua Meaks his trophy and gift certificate from Peak Running with a Twist.  Click the picture to see all the finish pictures and more pictures on the course.

Volunteers

Girls from the Freshman / Sophmore Tennis Team cheered on runners at the finish line and handed out medals to the finishers.  Over 40 girls from the Cross Country team were all over the event, especially the 5k Course.  Many were course marshalls in the reflective vests keeping runners safe and on the course during the 5k.  Others helped with the Walk and all sorts of jobs in the field house.  We had 15 adult volunteers behind the registration desk, handing out goodie bags, selling raffle tickets and registering new participants.  We also had about 10 adult course marshalls, they were assigned the more challenging corners to keep the runners safe.

We had Elizabeth Martinez and four members of her photography club taking pictures for us during the event.  It’s espcially challenging with different events happening at locations at nearly the same time.

We had the Senior Madrigals’ sign the national anthem for us again this year.  They sang beautifully and again gave me the chills for their talent and our ability to have them perform at our event and make it that much better!

Mary Rohlecek and Jamie Rey both art teachers brought a group of art students to perform face painting for the Run!  You may see some of their work in all the pictures of the runners on the course.
