May 9th.  Highlands honored Kelli Joy O’Laughlin by dedicating a Peace Garden in her honor.  The afternoon started in the Middle School gym with Speeches by Brenda O’Laughlin, Kelsey Corcoran, Highlands Teachers and Highlands School Students.  There were songs by the Highlands School choir and poems too.

The garden consists of a granite bench, a Jane magnolia tree and a stone with a plaque bearing Kelli’s name.  The tree has a ribbon with all Kelli’s classmate names.  The ribbon encircles the tree, that way she’s always surrounded by her friends.
