Friday, June 22nd.  By the time we all arrived at Big Run Golf Club, Long Run Creek had flooded most of the holes.  While the rain ended soon after 12 pm, our designated start time, there was too much water on the course to play a full 18.  The club did allow those interested to play holes 1,5,6,7,8 & 9.  Some folks played these holes more than once!

All foursomes received a rain check for play another day.  We had fun and raised funds from two different putting contests.  We moved dinner from 6 pm to 2 pm, Sasha our DJ played music from noon till about 4 pm.  BuckleDown Brewery poured beer to keep things lively!

The Golf Ball Cannon was busy on the 10th hole!

We had a golf ball cannon and for a small fee, you could try your luck at getting closet to the pin.  The winner received a trip to Las Vegas!  This prize started some friendly competition and raised over $900 for the charity while providing almost an hour of entertainment for all those that watched!

Putting Contest after lunch was a big hit!

We had one putt go “in the hole”, one on the lip and one about 6″ inches away!  But there can be only one winner!  Brian, on the right, won the contest and he didn’t even use a putter!  This was a split the pot contest.  He was to receive $500 but would only accept $250 and donated the rest back to the foundation.

Also pictured are the three winners of the first putting contest.  They each made a 40-foot put and received a gift certificate for Flag Creek Golf Course.

As we wrap up our Golf Outing and Online Auction, we’d like to take a moment to express our tremendous gratitude to everyone who helped make it a success.  In the spirit of when life gives you lemons (rain), we made fresh lemonade!

Special thanks to:

  • All of our generous donors and sponsors
  • Everyone who participated and invited friends and family to bid
  • Our dedicated families, constituents, and community of supporters

We’re very proud to announce the event raised over $22,000 for the foundation!
