Sports and Activities in High School:

Ryan was a four-year varsity Lacrosse player and started her first game on varsity as a goalie. Athletic training for two years.  Participated/taught in numerous Lacrosse camps to benefit charities.

Highlights from the Essay:

I have been playing lacrosse since eighth grade and when I first started at Nazareth, I was terrified. During the first week of practice, our head coach repeatedly brought me onto the varsity practice then the next day I would be on JV. The day before our first game (freshman year), Coach Springer informed me that I would be the varsity goalie. I was in shock. Come the game, my nerves were high until Brenna Fritzsche, a KJO Memorial Scholarship recipient (2016) came to me and said no matter what happened, everyone on the team was so proud that I was able to step up. Since the day she came up to me, I have strived to be like Brenna and care for those … who need encouragement or support.

Highlights from the Recommendations:

“She is always the first one on and last one off the field. Ryan is reflective in all that she does, taking pride in being the best that she can be. Ryan is selfless, volunteering with young athletes to share the passion and love she has for the game.”

“School begins at 7:55 am, but walk into my classroom at 7 am and there sits Ryan McGee, hot chocolate in hand, while she happily says good morning, sometimes with a coffee for me as well. It is hard to start my day off in anything but a good mood because Ryan is someone who spreads her morning optimism and happiness with everyone she sees.”

For all these reasons we are happy to welcome Ryan as our fourth KJO Scholarship recipient for 2019!
